About
She has been writing since childhood and has a degree in Creative Writing. She spent years in writing groups and classes before deciding that was enough class time, and it was time to publish. A quintessential California Girl, she spends time on the beach, at various farmers’ markets, outdoors, and enjoying the “lovely weather.”
Justine realized that most female characters functioned as performatively female roles in novels and stories, i.e., mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters. Mature female characters are either mothers, want to be mothers, or eccentric childless women in supporting roles. She decided that female characters past adolescent years can and should have lives of their own and adventures of their own.
Often, her story begins in one genre and ends up in another by the time it’s finished. She describes her genre-bending and blending as California Gothic, a little dark with a lot of sun, laughter with “Oh, my!” at its heel.
